Carol Gerbing

Carol Heilman Gerbing is a “”transplant”" from West Des Moines, Iowa but Georgia has been her home for almost 40 years. She attended Brunswick and Waycross Colleges, studying drafting and art. This multi-talented lady has worked as a structural and architectural draftsman, graphic artist and print shop worker. Presently, she’s a part-time employee of Baptist Village Retirement Community.

She creates lifelike portraits in graphite and charcoal, realistic and surreal acrylic and pastel paintings, photography and does gourd crafts as well. Growing her own gourds, she transforms them into birds, birdhouses, game boxes, rattles and Jack-o-lanterns. The sculpting and painting of a rounded surface is challenging and fun!

A six time winner of Okefenokee Heritage Center Juried Art Exhibitions, her work can be seen at City Market, Valdosta, GA, Okefenokee Heritage Center, Cohen’s Art and Framing, Waycross, GA and her Bickley, GA Studio. Murals are located at Bickley United Methodist Church and the Bacon County Elementary School library, Alma, GA. Her portraits of cherished Baptist Village residents can be seen at that facility.
